Grant Programs
 

The incentive grant has been established to provide financial assistance to new and existing businesses located within the Downtown Improvement District of the City.  The grant may be used for such activities as outside renovations like signage, painting, awning, or design assistance that enhances the property.  The Design Committee has final approval of applications.
Program Guidelines:

1) Grants are available for up to 10% of the total cost of the improvement project with a maximum reward of $500.
2) The applicant may be the property owner or tenant. Tenant must submit owner's approval in writing to the MainStreet of Fremont Incentive Review Committee for approval. Any changes to the project or design after submission may jeopardize the grant.
3) The applicant will be reimbursed for the grant amount upon completion of the project as approved.
4) Completion of the project must be within six months of approval, condition permitting.
5) If applicable, planned improvements must preserve the architectural integrity of the building.
6) If applicable, the size, shape and color of a sign should compliment the building and conform to the City's sign ordinance and MainStreet design guidelines.
7) If applicable, paint colors should be harmonious with neighboring structures and/or indicative of the guidelines of the buildings historic (past) color.

Selection Criteria

1) Aesthetic quality of the design proposal.
2) Potential impact on the attractiveness of the City, and streetscape and the particular building.
3) Enhancement or improvement significant to the district.

Grant Approval

1) Applicants must make initial application to MainStreet of Fremont, Inc. to ensure adherence to applicable policies, requirements, codes and appropriateness.
2) Grant application of rehabilitation must follow the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation's and the guidelines set up by MainStreet of Fremont, Inc.
